Integrated Fabry-Perot Resonator Based on Bragg Grating Mirrors: *Presented at Photonics North 2025, Ottawa, Canada, May 20–22, 2025

In this work, we present an integrated Fabry-Perot resonator implemented using a standard directional coupler and two Bragg grating mirrors. The device is designed and simulated on a 220 nm silicon-on-insulator platform over the 1.54-1.56 μm wavelength range. We investigate the impact of key design parameters, including cavity length and effective index, on the resonator's performance. Subwavelength grating (SWG) structures are also introduced to modify the effective index of the cavity arms. Simulation results using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) and photonic circuit tools confirm the device's spectral response, and multiple configurations are compared. This structure offers a compact and tunable approach for integrated photonic sensing and filtering applications.
