Enhanced Ride Comfort and Vehicle Stability Using Hybrid Semi-Active Vibration Isolator with Gaussian Membership Functions of Twenty-Five Rules for Trapezoidal Road Profile
The current work seeks to demonstrate enhanced ride comfortability and vehicle stability for better performance by designing a vibration isolator that exhibits adjustable stiffness and damping properties integrating the Bouc-Wen and four-parametric visco-elastic models. The mathematical modeling and simulation of the half-car model is developed using MATLAB environment. The hybrid control approach with the Gaussian membership functions of twenty-five rules regulates the voltage supplied to the system. The performance of the proposed system is compared with semi-active with variable damping (SVD) and passive systems (PS) to analyze the performances under trapezoidal disturbances road profile. The proposed damper decreased the settling time by 10.25% relative to the SVD and by 45.31% compared to the PS under trapezoidal road profile. The maximum displacement of the front wheel is reduced by 75% relative to the SVD and by 90% compared to the PS. The peak displacement of the rear end is reduced by 72.50% relative to the SVD and by 89.22% compared to the PS. The maximum displacement values of the seat are reduced by 40% relative to the SVD and by 90% compared to the PS. The RMS acceleration of the seat is reduced by 66.32% relative to the SVD and by 88.59% compared to the PS. A notable decrease of roughly 57% relative to SVD, and 91.3% in comparison to a passive system, is attained for the front and rear ends, leading to enhanced vehicle stability and ride comfort.
