Cherenkov THz Demonstrator with Multistage Depressed Collector Driven by Oversized Annular Electron Beam: Concept and First Steps Toward Experiment
A significant frequency band from approximately 0.3THz to 10THz is still practically unbridged, with only occasional “steppingstones” appearing to support a limited number of research and industrial applications. A project to construct Cherenkov THz source capable of generating> 100W of coherent THz radiation in pulsed and CW regimes, able to operate in a wide frequency range from 0.3 THz to 5 THz with high efficiency (above 10%) will be presented and discussed.
