Surface Plasmon Enhancement of Fluorescence on Silver Nanogratings
Plasmonic nanostructures are powerful tools to create localized and enhanced electromagnetic fields. The emission properties of quantum emitters placed close to such structures can be altered and engineered for applications in, e.g., sensing and lighting. Here, we study the behavior of a dipole, representing a fluorophore in the excited state, in the vicinity of a shallow silver grating, highlighting the effect of surface plasmons on the emission intensity, angular distribution in the far-field, and on the emitter decay rate.
