A Study on Cases in Which We Performed Subtotal Petrosectomy
Subtotal petrosectomy (STP) refers to the procedure in which the entire middle ear cavity is drilled and the transected space is filled with fat or other materials and the external auditory canal is closed. It is necessary in such patients to reduce the number of local therapies, including otorrhea suction and removal of debris, because they sometimes cause dizziness and pain. It is indicated for patients who need to make frequent visits to the hospital for otorrhea caused by recurrent cholesteatoma or cavity problems. It is highly curative and does not require any postoperative treatment.
