"ABOVE-AVERAGE EFFECT" IN TEAMWORK EVALUATION

The article describes an empirical study aimed at studying the "above-average effect" in teamwork. This phenomenon was investigated through a survey of 81 respondents in 10 teams. Each participant evaluated themselves and their colleagues according to teamwork criteria on a 6-point scale from 0 to 5. Analysis of the results using Python (pandas, matplotlib, and scipy.stats libraries) revealed a significant rightward shift in self-assessment compared to other team members' evaluations. Visualization tools (density plots and box plots) along with the Wilcoxon test (p-value = 0,0000024) confirmed the effect, rejecting the null hypothesis (H0) about the absence of such bias. The results are consistent with previous research on cognitive biases. Recommendations for minimizing the negative impact of the "above-average effect" in teamwork are proposed.
