AIGC Creative Design Research on Architectural Facade Graphics of Macao Historical Urban area Based on Catalyst Theory

Based on the Urban Catalyst Theory, this paper explores how to activate the Macao Historical Urban Area by integrating digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) and the Macau tourism image as intangible catalyst elements, with a focus on 22 building facades within the area. Through collecting thermal map data from the Macao Historical Urban Area during tourism peak periods, six samples exhibiting higher tourist attention were selected as creative subjects. Using the affinity diagram method, we categorized keywords related to Macao's urban tourism image and compiled them into an AIGC prompt dictionary. We employed AIGC design tools to develop a comprehensive workflow for the creative design of facades in the Macao Historical Urban Area. Through iterative testing and optimization, this workflow was implemented to establish a set of innovative design methods for the area's historical buildings. The integration of AIGC tools expanded creative design possibilities for the Macao Historical Urban Area, while the incorporation of tourism imagery enhanced the appeal of interactive tourism experiences. Furthermore, digital technology significantly improved design efficiency, and the proposed workflow offers a transferable methodology for the creative design of other historical buildings.
