Comparative analysis of methods for remote mapping of surface whiteness
Subject of study . The brightness and color characteristics of 10 whiteness standards are studied. The purpose of this work is to develop a method for determining the spatial distribution of whiteness over the surface of objects by various optical techniques (spectrophotometry, RGB imaging, multispectral imaging, and hyperspectral imaging) and to identify the optimal system in terms of measurement error and speed. Methods. A comparative analysis of three spectral methods for determining the whiteness and color of reference objects was performed. Main results. Laboratory studies showed that multispectral imaging is the most effective method for the remote mapping of whiteness and color, offering the best balance between measurement accuracy and speed. Practical significance. The findings can be applied in the development of methods and tools for measuring and controlling whiteness in various industries and in diverse scientific applications.
