Signal-to-Noise Ratio Enhancement in DAS VSP Data Using Adjacent Trace Stacking Techniques

Summary Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) data offers high-resolution sampling, compared to conventional VSP surveys. However, DAS data is often compromised by noise, hindering accurate interpretations. This study presents an approach to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in DAS data through adjacent trace stacking. Our results demonstrate that this method significantly improves SNR, with optimal stacking configurations yielding substantial increases in average SNR. By effectively reducing noise and enhancing data quality, adjacent trace stacking enables more reliable seismic interpretations. This research highlights the potential of adjacent trace stacking as a valuable tool for optimizing DAS data quality, ultimately improving the accuracy of the DAS seismic images.
