The Mediating Effect of Self-Esteem and the Moderated Mediation Effect of Person-Environment Fit in the Relationship Between Growth Mindset and Job Satisfaction Among Older Adults
This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem and the moderated mediating effect of person-environment fit in the relationship between growth mindset and job satisfaction among employed older adults aged 60 and above. To achieve this objective, the study targeted individuals aged 60 or older who were subscribers to the Korean National Health Insurance system in the workplace.Regional subscribers and dependents of workplace subscribers were excluded from the analysis.Data was collected through a professional survey agency in October 2023, and a total of 300 valid responses were used for analysis.SPSS Win.Version 24.0 was used to conduct the reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, and correlation analysis. Also, the SPSS PROCESS macro version 4.2 (Models 1, 4, and 7) was utilized to analyze mediation and moderated mediation effects.First, the findings revealed that a higher growth mindset among older adults was associated with higher selfesteem, and this increased self-esteem, in turn, to greater job satisfaction.Second, the indirect effect of a growth mindset on job satisfaction through self-esteem varied depending on the level of personenvironment fit.Specifically, the mediating effect of self-esteem was stronger among those with low person-environment fit, while this indirect effect was weakened when person-environment fit was high.
