Effect of Nursing Students’ Attitudes toward and Social Awareness Level on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on Performance Confidence
This descriptive study aimed to determine the effect of attitudes toward and social awareness level of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on performance confidence among nursing students in Y City.Data were collected from May 1 to May 17, 2024, from 218 nursing students. The collected data were then analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 statistical program. Results showed that the mean score of the students' attitude toward cardiopulmonary resuscitation was 37.11 6.24 and 25.10 4.22 for social awareness level, and 57.397.66 for performance confidence.Furthermore, students' confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation was positively correlated with attitudes toward cardiopulmonary resuscitation (r =.165, p =.015) and social awareness level (r=.542, p < .001).And the results of multiple regression analysis revealed that social awareness level (t=8.583,p<.001) affected cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance confidence, which was statistically significant and had an explanatory power of 29.7%.Therefore, it is necessary to develop programs that raise social awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation to build further a society grounded in reverence for life, improve performance confidence through continuous and repeated education rather than solely relying on one-time training, and reduce anxiety and fear associated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
