Reversible formation of yttrium planar cyclo-P 4 clusters and their selective conversion: access to mixed P V /P III cyclo-P 4 units

A solvent-induced reversible activation of white phosphorus was achieved using a rare-earth complex for the first time, and the P 4 activation product was then readily converted into planar mixed P V /P III cyclo-P 4 clusters through an oxidation process.
