Impact of fluopyram on testicular tissue alterations and sperm characteristics of male albino rats

AbstractFluopyram is a widely used new generation broad spectrum fungicide and its toxic effects are mostly unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine how different dosages of fluopyram affected the male albino rat’s reproductive tissues and its amelioration with ginger. Rats were given fluopyram at doses of 0.5 and 2.5 mg kg-1, and the effect was seen to be alleviated when ginger extract was given at a dose of 2.5 mg per kg bw per day. Their testicles and epididymis were removed after the 28-day course of treatment in order to assess spermatic parameters and histological analysis. There were notable variations between the groups which received fluopyram and the vehicle control group (p<0.05). The treated group testis tissue displayed histological findings, but the testis of control had a normal histological structure. A dose-dependent increase in toxicity was seen when fluopyram groups were compared to one another (p<0.05). When animals were treated with fluopyram and ginger extract to see the ameliorative effect, their histological testis changes were improved and their sperm characteristics significantly decreased. In conclusion, fluopyram appears to cause dose-dependent increased toxicity in reproductive tissues of male albino rats.
