Application of fractal geometry theory to the analysis of transport systems

This article discusses approaches to the study of transport systems from the perspective of fractal theory and fractal geometry. Examples of fractal behavior of systems and network structures are given. The fractal structure of the transport network (stem, branch, dendritic, crystalline) and its dimension are determined. The variants of fractal self-similarity on the Tula city road network are shown. The fractal characteristics of the traffic flow for driving (in directions) of the Tula street and road network on working days and weekends are analyzed. Keywords transport system, road network, entropy, fractal, fractal geometry

Abstract

This article discusses approaches to the study of transport systems from the perspective of fractal theory and fractal geometry. Examples of fractal behavior of systems and network structures are given. The fractal structure of the transport network (stem, branch, dendritic, crystalline) and its dimension are determined. The variants of fractal self-similarity on the Tula city road network are shown. The fractal characteristics of the traffic flow for driving (in directions) of the Tula street and road network on working days and weekends are analyzed. Keywords transport system, road network, entropy, fractal, fractal geometry
