A clinical case of reconstruction of the lower third of the face in an eight-year-old patient after successful complex treatment for an extrarenal rhabdoid tumor of the soft tissues of the chin

Malignant extrarenal rhabdoid tumor is a rare, highly aggressive neoplasm of childhood, belonging to a group of heterogeneous formations and having an extremely poor prognosis with a median survival of 2–12 months. In this article, we present a clinical case of a female patient with a malignant extrarenal rhabdoid tumor of the soft tissues of the submandibular region, diagnosed at the age of five months. The child received comprehensive treatment and has been in remission since the age of one and a half years. Due to the prolonged absence of signs of recurrence, continued growth, and progression of the disease, a decision was made on the advisability of conducting a reconstructive plastic stage of treatment to restore the lower zone of the child’s face.
