Comparing homodyne and heterodyne tomography of non-Gaussian quantum states of light via classical Fisher information

A major unexplored question of quantum state tomography is the relative efficiency of homodyne versus heterodyne measurements for reconstructing non-Gaussian states. We introduce a Fisher information-based formalism to answer this question, tested through simulated experiments.
