Full Photon Temporal Waveform Control from Singly Trapped Ions

We present a novel technique to produce photons with arbitrary temporal waveforms via spontaneous emission by control of an atomic excitation. We demonstrate this technique in a trapped ion system with 0.996 process fidelity.
