Enhancing Network Efficiency in VANETS with Energy-Aware and Link-Stability-Based Priority Neighbor Selection
Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) play a crucial role in enabling real-time communication among vehicles, improving traffic safety, and enhancing intelligent transportation systems. However, maintaining stable and energy-efficient communication in highly dynamic vehicular environments remains a significant challenge. This paper proposes an Energy-Aware and Link-Stability-Based Priority Neighbor Selection (EALSPNS) algorithm to enhance network efficiency in VANETs. The algorithm dynamically selects priority neighbor nodes based on multiple factors, including residual energy, link stability, and vehicle mobility patterns, ensuring optimized data transmission and reduced communication overhead. By integrating adaptive weight-based scoring mechanisms, the proposed approach prioritizes stable and energy-efficient nodes, thereby reducing packet loss, improving throughput, and extending network lifetime. Simulation results demonstrate that EALSPNS outperforms conventional neighbor selection algorithms in terms of network reliability, energy efficiency, and end-to-end latency. This study contributes to the development of robust VANET architectures capable of sustaining efficient communication under high mobility conditions.
