Intelligent System for Mood and Depression Detection and Analysis

The rising prevalence of mental health conditions, primarily depression, has become a critical issue affecting millions of people worldwide, especially college students, and involving the fundamental emotional, psychological, and social derangements of the said condition. Early detection of health is essential for immediate intervention; however, conventional methods of diagnosis require self-reporting and clinical judgment, which frequently delay the identification of susceptible individuals. This paper discusses the development of a technology-led innovation for the assessment of depression or mental health disorders. Based on machine learning algorithms and NLP, the proposed system investigates linguistic patterns, sentiment, and behavioral indicators in user interactions via digital platforms. With users' reports and other environmental factors, this proposed system allows users to have a non-intrusive, scalable, and efficient means of possibly determining depressive tendencies. When this tool is associated with related services for mental health support, one can anticipate that recommendations, resources, and access to professionals are given to every user. This seeks to close gaps in accessing mental health care, with which early recognition, minimal stigma, and proactive support for mental wellness are maximally enhanced.
