Design and Implementation of an IoT-Based Intelligent Monitoring System for Artifact Storage and Transportation
As tangible carriers of historical and cultural heritage, cultural relics require secure storage and transportation, which constitute a critical component of the cultural heritage protection system. To address potential safety threats—whether human-induced, technical, or environmental—during the storage and transportation (S&T) of artifacts, this paper proposes an intelligent monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system enables real-time acquisition and display of key environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, vibration, attitude angle, and geolocation (latitude and longitude). By integrating Zigbee and 4G wireless communication technologies, it supports remote and real-time monitoring of each terminal node via a web-based platform. The system features abnormality detection with automatic alarm functions, as well as centralized data processing and intelligent management capabilities, thereby enhancing the safety and controllability of the S&T process. System testing demonstrates that the proposed solution offers comprehensive data acquisition, transmission, storage, and remote monitoring functionalities, with high measurement accuracy, strong real-time performance, and high reliability.
