From Bracelets to Hoodies: Exploring Embedded Multimodal Assistive Controllers
This paper introduces prototypes of clothing- and accessory-concealed, multimodal controllers and describes how four prototypes were designed based on identified needs of users and technological characteristics. These controllers transform ordinary clothing and accessories into assistive devices. They enable tailored, engaging control of our digital surroundings. We present four prototypes: 1) Bracelet Prototype - activated by pressing; 2) Hoodie Prototype - activated by pulling; 3) Touch Prototype - activated by a light touch; and 4) Pouch Prototype - activated by squeezing. Looking ahead, the next steps involve engaging with potential users and their proxies to gather feedback.
