Catalyzing change: how corporate social entrepreneurship fuels social entrepreneurial intentions in the IT industry through social inclusion

Purpose Though in prior research, corporate social entrepreneurship (CSE) has been cast with various behavioral factors, its impact on the social inclusion (SI) of employees, and more specifically on their social entrepreneurial intentions (SEI) is limited. In view of this, the main objective of this study is: (a) to investigate how CSE influences SI and SEI, (b) the role of SI as a mediator between the CSE-SEI relationship, and (c) the influence of SI on SEI. Design/methodology/approach A framework was developed and tested using partial least squares-structural equation modeling analysis on a sample of 344 employees associated with the IT industry in India. Findings Results affirm the significant direct and indirect impact of CSE and its dimensions on employees’ SEI. The indirect influence of CSE involves nurturing SI, which in turn impacts SEI. These findings are significant for the industries seeking to foster intentions and socially responsible behavior in their employees. Originality/value By examining how corporate initiatives integrate social and entrepreneurial aspects, which influence employees’ intentions to engage in social entrepreneurship, the authors are making a novel contribution by providing a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play in promoting entrepreneurial, sustainable, and socially impact business practices. Furthermore, findings will contribute to both academic discourse and practical insights for businesses and policymakers aiming to enhance social entrepreneurial ecosystems through inclusive corporate practices.
