Communication Skills, Professional Attributes, and Teaching Readiness
This descriptive correlational study examined the communication skills, professional attributes, and teaching readiness of fourth-year Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) students at ISAT U during the School Year 2024-2025. Seventy-three students from ISAT U campuses in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo City, Leon, Miagao, and Dumangas were selected through purposive sampling. The study analyzed the relationships between students' communication skills, professional attributes, and teaching readiness while considering sex, specialization, level of accreditation, and campus. A revised researcher-designed questionnaire and pre-board examination results served as data sources. Statistical analyses, including Frequency Count, Percentage, Mean, Rank, Mann-Whitney U-Test, Kruskal-Wallis H-Test, Chi-Square, and Spearman’s rho, were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) with a 0.05 margin of error. Findings revealed that BTVTED students demonstrated strong communication skills (M=4.46), exemplary professional attributes (M=1.97), and average teaching readiness (M=83.70). While communication proficiency and professionalism remained consistent across variables, specialization showed significant variations in professional attributes. Correlation analysis revealed weak but statistically significant relationships among communication skills, professional attributes, and teaching readiness. These results underscored the need for targeted interventions to enhance students' readiness for the teaching profession.
