Learning and Development (L&D) Coordinators’ Awareness, Acceptance and Performance in the Implementation of Professional Development Programs for Educators
This study examined the awareness, acceptance, and performance of Learning and Development (L&D) Coordinators in implementing professional development programs for educators in public schools within the School Divisions of Iloilo City and Iloilo Province, Philippines, during the school year 2024–2025. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study explored how demographic factors such as sex, age, educational attainment, current position, and length of service shaped coordinators’ effectiveness. A total enumeration of L&D coordinators participated, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a modified researcher-made questionnaire, which was validated and tested for reliability. Statistical tools used included mean, frequency count, percentage, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, and Spearman’s Rho, processed using SPSS with a significance level set at 0.05 alpha. Findings revealed that L&D Coordinators had a strong understanding of professional development programs, demonstrating high awareness and acceptance. They consistently performed well in planning and executing training initiatives. Educational attainment contributed significantly to program engagement and implementation, while position and experience played a lesser role. A close relationship among awareness, acceptance, and performance was observed, indicating that informed and receptive coordinators executed their responsibilities more effectively. The study concluded that L&D Coordinators carried out their roles with dedication, ensuring effective professional development program implementation. Recommendations included refining policies for inclusivity, allocating resources to strengthen engagement, and encouraging educators’ active participation. Future research may explore additional strategies to enhance professional development efforts, fostering continuous growth in the education sector.
