COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF AMAPA LATEX FROM Parahancornia amapa AND Brosimum parinarioides BY HPLC-UV-DAD

A phytochemical study of the latex from P. amapa and B. parinarioides has led to the isolation of nine compounds. From the latex of B. parinarioides, six compounds were isolated: lupeol acetate (1), butyrospermol (2), and its epimer, tirucalla-7,24-dien-3β-ol (3), cycloartenol (4), cycloeucalenol (5), obtusifoliol (6). This is the first report of their occurrence in B. parinarioides. From the latex of P. amapa isolated lupeol acetate (1), a mixture of acetylated triterpenes was identified, including α-amyrin acetate, β-amyrin, and lupeol (MIST-2). Additionally, two mixtures of hydroxylated and non-hydroxylated lupeol esters (MIST-3) and (MIST-1), were isolated and fully characterized using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques. A comparative study of the latex from both species has been conducted using high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection using a diode array detector (HPLC-UV-DAD). This analysis has revealed common features, such as the presence of α- and β-amyrin acetates and lupeol. However, the major distinction has been that the mixture of hydroxylated lupeol esters has been found exclusively in P. amapa, while cycloeucalenol and obtusifoliol have been observed only in B. parinarioides.
