Scalable Pill Dispensing Systems for Hospitals

Now a days, millions of people suffer from various diseases which needs medication in hospitals. This paper presents a novel scalable and manageable pill dispensing system. This work involves Wi-Fi enabled MCU that serves as a central controller hub, that connects to individual pill dispensers each consisting of a MCU board, servo motors, and a movement/distance sensor. It presents a flexible design to give two or more different medication per patient at scheduled times to ensure timely intake of appropriate medications per pill dispenser. This design ensures IoT-based manageability, such that each floor of a hospital (or a similar facility) will have one central controller hub per user account connected to the internet to fetch the medicine dispensing time and details, as set by the caretakers using the web interface. Each pill dispenser is allocated to the bed of a particular patient. The pill dispensers also house a buzzer-based notification system to alert the patients as per prescribed medication intake times.
