A Novel Decentralized Authentication Framework with Gelocation and MFA Enabled JWT for P2P Social Network Applications

In the era of decentralized systems, ensuring secure and scalable authentication mechanisms is paramount, particularly in Peer-to-Peer Online Social Networks (P2P OSNs). This work presents a novel decentralized authentication framework that integrates advanced cryptographic techniques, including AES-GCM for message encryption, SHA512withRSA for digital signatures, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with OTP and IP-based geolocation. By leveraging JSON Web Tokens (JWT), the system ensures stateless authentication, efficient session management, and robust key distribution, addressing critical security challenges such as identity spoofing, Sybil attacks, and account compromise. The inclusion of location-based verification strengthens the authentication process by validating user requests against geographical and device-specific parameters, preventing unauthorized access from anomalous locations. The modular design, incorporating service discovery through Spring Eureka and dynamic peer deployment, enhances scalability and fault tolerance. Experimental evaluations demonstrate the system’s efficiency in handling varying message sizes with minimal latency, while maintaining security and user privacy. This framework provides a secure, decentralized solution for P2P OSNs, with future work focusing on scalability improvements via distributed cloud environments, anomaly detection through machine learning, and the incorporation of biometric verification into MFA for enhanced security.
