Enhancing the Vehicle Performance, Ease Enhancement Features using the ‘Steer-By-Wire’ System

In order to enhance vehicle performance and driving comfort, this project aims to develop a Steer-By-Wire (SBW) system that replaces mechanical steering with electronic control. The methodology includes the use of a Variable Steering Ratio (VSR) for adaptive steering response, a Sliding Mode Control (SMC) system with a controller for precise wheel alignment, and a Predictive Mode Control (PMC) for real-time feedback. The system is actuated by a bevel gear-driven motor, rotary encoders, and an STM32 microcontroller. The outcomes that confirm the accuracy and stability of the system include a steering error of no more than 3° and a fast reaction time of 0.3 seconds. This demonstrates the SBW system's potential for lightweight, reliable, and intelligent vehicle steering.
