Optimizing Mechanical Strength and Wear Resistance of Aluminium 6063 Composites with Zinc and Aluminium Oxide
The mechanical strength and wear resistance of aluminium-based composites play a crucial role in determining their suitability for structural and industrial applications. This study investigates the optimization of the mechanical and tribological properties of Aluminum 6063 composites reinforced with zinc (Zn) and aluminum oxide (Al<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>). The composites were fabricated using the stir casting method, ensuring uniform dispersion of the reinforcements. A systematic evaluation of hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance was conducted to analyze the impact of Zn and Al<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> on the material’s performance. The results indicate that the inclusion of Zn enhances the ductility and toughness, while Al<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> significantly improves hardness and wear resistance. A comparative analysis with unreinforced Aluminum 6063 demonstrates superior mechanical properties in reinforced composites, making them promising candidates for high-performance engineering applications.
