Sobre las relaciones hombre-naturaleza en la Reserva de Biosfera Transfronteriza Gerês Xurés
This article synthesises social configurations related to conservation in the Gerês-XurésTransboundary Biosphere Reserve, located between Portugal and Spain. It addresses three key areas: wolf conservation, community ageing, and the instrumentalisation of nature within the reserve. The approach draws on the concepts of Bourdieu, Elias, Weber, and De Swaan to develop a sociological analysis of the processes at stake. Based on previous sources and on ethnographic, quantitative, and spatial research (2024–2025), the article highlights the relevance of social approaches for understanding local dynamics and fostering more inclusive and sustainable conservation practices.
