Analisis Performa Motor Diesel Four Stroke Terhadap Desain Honeycomb Diesel Particulate Filter Berbahan Galvanum

The combustion process in diesel engines can produce particulate matter (PM) which can pollute the air, pose environmental and health risks if not managed properly using a filtering system. To reduce PM emissions in diesel engines, diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology was created, located in the exhaust manifold which has a function to capture particles through filter devices in the system. This research will use the experimental method of making tools and initial testing which will be carried out on the Jiangdong diesel engine with the ZH1115N type with the STC-5 generator. DPF technology uses a honeycomb filter pattern with a mesh variation of 10 mm, 20mm and 30 mm made of galvanized with a reference to diesel engine performance tests using rotation speeds of 1000 RPM, 1200 RPM, 1300 RPM and 1400 RPM with loading variations of 2000 watts, 3000 watts, and 4000 watts. The test results show that the use of DPF can capture PM 4-16 grams, the average power value has increased by 3,37%-10,90% and torque by 3,45%-11,45% compared to diesel engine without DPF. The disadvantage of using DPF is the level of fuel consumption, by using DPF the average value of generator specific fuel consumption (GSFC) in diesel engines has increased in honeycomb patterns of 10 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm by 2,26%-5,89% with the comparison of diesel engines without using the DPF system.
