Честване на Кирил и Методий и българската азбука в нетрадиционни контексти: български мигрантски общности в Близкия Изток и Южна Америка
Patrons of Europe and pivotal figures in the celebrations of national and religious festivities across the central and eastern parts of the continent, Saints Cyril and Methodius have secured a prominent place in the history and cultural identity of the Old Continent. The historical significance of the Cyrillic alphabet, both within the context of the Eastern Bloc and in the European Union, is noteworthy. However, for regions such as the Middle East and Latin America, the presence of these civilizational achievements, festivities, and cultural heritage remains unconventional and exotic. The article explores the discourse surrounding the Cyril-Methodian heritage and related festivities within the socio-cultural life of Bulgarian migrant communities. Specifically, we examine their presence in regions such as the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. The primary focus is on the heritage potential to foster unity among national and cultural international communities in foreign cultural and linguistic environments. Additionally, we explore its adaptive capacity to different religious and political regimes while maintaining relative stability over time.
