Hopeful Thinking among University Students
The researchers sought to study hopeful thinking to identify a number of objectives, including: identifying the level of hopeful thinking among university students, and revealing statistically significant differences in this thinking according to some variables (gender, specialization, and academic level). The researchers adopted the descriptive correlational approach to achieve the objectives of this study. The research sample was chosen using a multi-stage random method from the original community to be researched. The researchers selected (400) male and female students, and decided to prepare a scale of hopeful thinking based on Snyder's theory (Snyder, 1991). The results of the study showed that the research sample had a high level of hopeful thinking, and no statistically significant differences appeared between males and females in the level of thinking, while statistically significant differences were found between the scientific and humanities specializations in favor of the scientific specialization, as well as between the two academic stages in favor of the fourth stage.
