Деятельность братьев С. и П. Пешекеровых в народнических организациях города Ростова-на-Дону / Activities of the Brothers S. and P. Peshekerov in the Populist Organizations of the City ofRostov-on-Don

The participation of Armenians in the activities of the Narodnik groups and organizations of Rostov-on-Don is one of the little-studied issues in historiography. In the 70-80s of the 19th century, the student youth and intelligentsia of the Armenian Community of New Nakhichevan being closely connected with Russian culture and science also actively participated in the social and political life of the Russian Empire. They were actively involved in the revolutionary Narodnik movement contributing not only to the Narodnik movement in the southern provinces of the Russian Empire but also to the spread of that movement's ideology in the Eastern Armenian reality. The Narodnik groups and organizations of Rostov-on-Don served as a connecting link between the Transcaucasus and the leading Narodnik organizations. Among the most famous figures who participated in the movement were the brothers Peshekerov, M. Popov, A. Khachumov, U. Asvadurova, M. Kayalyan and others who not only actively participated in the movement but also often founded new groups and organizations themselves. The role of the brothers S. and P. Peshekerov was especially great in the Narodnik groups and organizations of New Nakhichevan and Rostov-on-Don in general. They actually led those organizations directing their activities and ensuring contact with the central Narodnik organizations.
