Jacotot, maître de l’écoute « complétive »
The article focused on Joseph Jacotot's unconventional teaching method, analyzed by Jacques Rancière in his book "The Ignorant Schoolmaster: Five Lessons in Intellectual Emancipation". Such concepts as "comprehensive listening" and "listening culture" are developed as we aim to demonstrate that the allegedly ignorant escape by which Jacotot would like to establish himself as a master of comprehensive listening comes from his ultimate decision: that by which he makes the "reception of the excluded" a manifestation of his listening mastery. Thus, from an ethnological standpoint, music cultural gaps should be perceived in a way that the differences would have an intrinsic aesthetic value.
