Bleeding Edge: Navigating Thrombocytopenia in Solid Tumour Oncology
Thrombocytopenia, characterized by a platelet count of less than 150×10⁹/L, is a frequent haematologic complication in individuals with solid cancers. It can result from various factors, including bone marrow metastasis, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or immune-related platelet destruction. This review examines the origins, clinical consequences, and treatment approaches for thrombocytopenia in solid tumor patients, highlighting its prognostic significance and management difficulties.
