Designing a novel valuable photocatalyst (Ag2O@Chitosan nanocomposite) for removal of organic dyes from water and biological application

• The Chitosan nanocomposites infused with Ag 2 O nanoparticles demonstrate exceptional efficacy in decomposing Rose Bengal and Malachite green oxalate dyes, indicating substantial promise for wastewater treatment. • The incorporation of Ag 2 O nanoparticles with Chitosan nanoparticles (Ag 2 O@CS) leads to enhanced stability and photocatalytic activity, demonstrating the efficacy of the composite material. • The effective breakdown of toxic dyes utilizing this innovative nanocomposite highlights its potential use in environmental remediation, providing a sustainable remedy for wastewater polluted with colors. In this study, chitosan (CS) and silver oxide (Ag 2 O) nanocomposites will be used to evaluate the photodegradation of organic pigments. The novel photocatalytic material was developed was constructed from a chitosan biopolymer matrix and Ag 2 O nanoparticles. The precise and uniform distribution of Ag 2 O inside the nanocomposites throughout the CS matrix was validated by several analytical methods. The photocatalytic activity of the Ag 2 O@CS nanocomposites was improved due to the combination of chitosan's high adsorption capacity and Ag 2 O's photocatalytic capabilities. UV radiation degraded organic colors more efficiently in these nanocomposites than in standard photocatalysts. After comparing Ag 2 O to other photocatalysts, the results showed that RB concentrations were 89.42% lower and MGO concentrations were 88.21% lower. Unlike previous efforts, our photocatalyst has a longer half-life. This is accomplished by combining Ag 2 O nanoparticles with biocompatible and biodegradable chitosan. The problem of dye contamination of water sources is a global issue that can be permanently resolved with the help of this innovative technique. Water treatment facilities, whether public or private, may benefit from the scalable and cost-effective wastewater cleaning technology provided by Ag 2 O@CS nanocomposites. Improving water treatment technologies and achieving environmental sustainability are the main objectives of this project, which aims to develop photocatalysis and promote eco-friendly materials.
