Determination of IL-18 in patients with pseudomonas aeruginosa-inflicted burn and wound

The sample was collected at the Burns Hospital, the Baghdad Teaching Hospital in Baghdad City, and the Al Hussein Teaching Hospital in Al muthana City between January 12, 2023, and January 4, 2024. Samples were taken from the sera of 69 patients, 53 patients who had burns, and 16 patients who had wounds infected with pseudomonas aeruginosa; there were 41 male patients and 28 female patients. As a control group, this study used the other 69 patients who were not bacterially contaminated. In the teaching laboratories in al Sawawah city, the ELISA assay was used to measure the amount of IL-18. In comparison to the control group, which had IL-18 levels of 70.74±13.59, the results revealed that burn patients had lower levels of 30.82±10.54 and wound patients had lower levels of 31.72±10.66. IL18 levels were found to differ significantly (p<0.05) between the burn and wound patients and the control group in the current investigation.
