Atomic‐Level La‐Modulated NiFeP Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for High Efficiency Overall Water Splitting
Rare-earth La-modulated NiFeP composites were prepared via a facile co-precipitation route followed by in situ phosphatization of La-doped NiFe-LDH precursors. Benefiting from the optimized electronic structure, the La0.3-NiFeP catalyst demonstrates remarkable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance. In 1 M KOH, this catalyst delivers 10 mA cm-2 at overpotentials of only 97 mV (HER) and 271 mV (OER), while demonstrating excellent operational durability. When configured as a dual-electrode water electrolyzer, La0.3-NiFeP divers overall water splitting at 10 mA cm-2 with a low cell voltage of 1.59 V and retains performance for over 24 hours, surpassing most reported transition metal-based electrocatalysts.
