Bioinspired Total Synthesis of (+)-α-Tocopherol
The bioinspired total synthesis of α-tocopherol was achieved using a late-stage organocatalytic halo-cycloetherification reaction to construct the critical 2,2-disubstituted chroman scaffold stereoselectively. The reactivity and stereoselectivity of this reaction were studied under both batch and continuous-flow conditions. This method offers a reliable strategy for synthesizing C2-functionalized chromans, key chiral building blocks for natural product synthesis and pharmaceuticals.
