Féminisme occidental et féminisme marocain : principales revendications et figure clés
The study of the feminist movement reflects its roots in the struggle for equality between men and women. A theoretical overview of this movement (in the West and then in Morocco) shows how these two movements contributed to the realization of women's demands and the reform of certain legal texts. Western feminism is divided into clearly defined phases and objectives; from the suffragette cause, through voting rights and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, to post-feminism or meta-feminism, distinguished by the emergence of queer groups. As for Moroccan feminism, whose development is inevitably linked to debates on the status and condition of women, it goes beyond simple Western imitation. Simone de Beauvoir in the West and Fatima Mernissi in Morocco, both concerned themselves with the condition of women by going beyond theoretical discourse to a commitment and concrete actions for the social improvement of women. They also contributed to a challenge to the norms established by traditional society.
