Enhancing Quality Assurance in Construction Implementation: The Role of BIM as a Comprehensive Documentation Tool

This study investigates the potential of Building Information Modelling (BIM) as a tool for enhancing the quality assurance of construction projects during the implementation phase. Given the increasing complexity of construction projects and the growing amount of information required, BIM has emerged as an indispensable tool for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Nevertheless, many construction projects encounter challenges and delays due to incomplete information and inadequate documentation during the construction phase, thereby compromising the quality of the final product. To address these issues, the study conducts a meticulous analysis of recently published papers, online resources, and practical experiences to develop a framework aimed at improving BIM's Construction Documentation (CD) tool. Specifically, the study focuses on identifying and addressing errors encountered during the construction phase, such as unskilled labor, environmental consequences, technical problems, and changes in the implementation process. The proposed framework seeks to enhance BIM-CD efficiency and quality and contribute to the AEC industry's knowledge base. Ultimately, this study offers valuable insights into the potential of BIM as a documentation tool for quality assurance in the construction implementation phase, with practical implications for the AEC industry.
