PSYCHOEMOTIONAL STATE OF CANCER PATIENTS BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF BREAST CANCER PATIENTS

The article presents the results of a study on the psychoemotional state and quality of life of cancer patients taking women with breast cancer (BC) as an example. The study was conducted at the Oncology Centre No. 1 of the S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital in Moscow. Health care in the field of oncological diseases is focused primarily on saving patients’ life, while insufficient attention is paid to the psychological health of cancer patients. It still remains unclear how cancer patients cope with anxiety and fear of relapses and metastases, and what features of the psychoemotional state are characteristic of the recovery period after mutilating surgeries. The study examined the psychoemotional state and quality of life of 60 women with BC aged 22 to 71 years (30 women during treatment, 30 in remission). No significant differences in the psychoemotional state and quality of life of women in the two groups were found, with the exception of such a quality of life component as “pain intensity”.
