THE RELATIONSHIP OF INDIVIDUALS AND A STATE IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF B. N. CHICHERIN

The article analyses the scientific view of B. N. Chicherin on the problem of the relationship between an individual and a state, the private and the general. The limits of self-restraint of state power and individual freedom, the role of a state as a guarantor of the observance of individual rights and freedoms are considered. The relevance of the teachings of B. N. Chicherin in the modern conditions of socio-legal development of Russia is emphasised.
