Focusing on the negative adverb “mo” in the Xiangyang dialect, the study employs descriptive methods to outline its basic syntactic distribution and primary syntactic-semantic functions. Additionally, it explores the origins and formation processes of different usages of “mo”, attempting to explain its evolutionary patterns, reasons, and mechanisms.
