Translation Strategies for Dialect Idioms in the Uyghur Language Version of “<i>Border Town</i>”

《边城》是沈从文先生的代表作。本文运用翻译理论，对照分析《边城》原文与维吾尔语译本中方言熟语部分所采用的翻译策略与方法。译者根据原文方言熟语内容的不同语境，分别采用归化与异化翻译策略，恰当使用直译、逐词翻译、套译、解释等的翻译方法，在确保译文内容准确无误的前提下，保留《边城》原文语言风格，在《边城》维吾尔语译本中展现了湘西文化，同时也兼顾使用维吾尔语读者的语言习惯，使译文通顺。《边城》维吾尔语译本准确优美的方言熟语翻译促进了内地和新疆在地域文化层面的交往交流交融，以汉译维经典文学译本为路径铸牢中华民族共同体意识，体现了中华民族优秀传统文化丰富内涵和深厚底蕴。“Border Town” is the representative work of Mr. Shen Congwen. This paper employs translation theory to comparatively analyze the translation strategies and methods adopted in the dialect and vernacular parts of the original text of “Border Town” and its Uyghur translation. According to the different contexts of the dialect idioms in the original text, the translator respectively adopted domestication and foreignization translation strategies, and appropriately used translation methods such as literal translation, word-by-word translation, duplication translation, and explanation. On the premise of ensuring the accuracy of the translation content, the language style of the original text of “Border Town” was retained, and the culture of Xiangxi was presented in the Uyghur translation of “Border Town”. At the same time, it also takes into account the language habits of readers who use Uyghur to make the translation smooth. The accurate and elegant dialect translation of “Border Town” in Uyghur has promoted exchanges and integration at the regional cultural level between the inland areas and Xinjiang. By taking the translation of classic Chinese-Uyghur literature as a path, it has strengthened the awareness of the Chinese nation as a community, reflecting the rich connotations and profound heritage of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
