The Alien Acorn Barnacle Amphibalanus amphitrite (Darwin, 1854) (Balanidae, Balanomorpha, Crustacea), Newly Recorded from the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast
The alien striped acorn barnacle Amphibalanus amphitrite has been found again along the coast of the Bulgarian Black Sea, nearly 70 years after it had been recorded from the area. A total of 12 specimens were found on stranded marine floating debris and anthropogenic litter in two new localities, Euxinograd and Chernomorets, which are the third and fourth localities of this barnacle from the Bulgarian sector of the Black Sea. The paper describes the collected specimens and provides a historical review of previously published data on the distribution of Amphibalanus amphitrite in the Black Sea.
