PURSLANE (PORTULACA OLERACEA L.) GROWING IN SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN – PHYTOCHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF ULTRASONIC HYDROETHANOLIC EXTRACT AND ITS PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

Aerial parts of Portulaca oleracea L. growing in South Kazakhstan were subjected to ultrasonic extraction with 70% ethanol. The phytochemical composition of the extract was studied using the RP-HPLC/PDA and HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS methods. The following extract activities were studied in vivo after its oral administration: acute toxicity in outbred white mice, as well as analgesic activity by the formalin test method and anti-inflammatory effect by the carrageenan oedema method in outbred white rats.A total of 19 compounds were identified in the extract by HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS fingerprinting, mainly organic acids and their derivatives, and phenolic acid derivatives.According to RP-HPLC/PDA data, the main compounds of this extract were derivatives of ferulic and protocatechuic acids (2.502 mg/100 g d. m.).No signs of extract toxicity and mortality were observed, even at a dose of 2000 mg d. m./kg.The extract at doses of 100 mg d. m./kg and 200 mg d. m./kg exerted a significant reduction in the number of pain reactions in both early and late phases, as well as a marked anti-inflammatory effect. These in vivo data demonstrated, for the first time, an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect following oral administration of ultrasonic hydroethanolic extract from Kazakh species of purslane. Administrarea extractului n doze de 100 mg/kg i 200 mg/kg a determinat o reducere semnificativ a reaciilor dureroase att n faza timpurie, ct i n faza tardiv a testului cu formalin, precum i un efect antiinflamator pronunat.Aceste date in vivo demonstreaz, pentru prima dat, efectele analgezice i antiinflamatoare ale extractului hidroetanolic obinut prin ultrasunete dintr-o specie de Portulaca oleracea cultivat n Kazahstan.
