The growing concerns over chemical-induced skin irritations and antimicrobial resistance have driven the search for safe, effective, and natural alternatives to conventional hand hygiene products. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a polyherbal hand wash using medicinal plant extracts known for their antimicrobial and skin-soothing properties. A polyherbal formulation was developed using aqueous and/or alcoholic extracts of Trachyspermum ammi (Ajwain Seeds), Cyperus rotundus (Nagarmotha), Citrus sinensis (Orange Peel) and Citrus limon (lemon). The hand wash was evaluated for physicochemical properties including pH, viscosity, foamability, and stability. The formulated hand wash exhibited desirable organoleptic characteristics with a pH of 6.2 and stable viscosity. It showed good foaming ability and retention. The product remained stable over 30 days under ambient storage conditions with no observable changes in appearance or performance. The study demonstrated that the polyherbal hand wash formulation was acceptable physicochemical properties, making it a promising natural alternative to synthetic hand hygiene products. Its use of traditional medicinal plants highlights the potential for integrating herbal remedies into modern personal care applications. Further studies on dermatological safety and large-scale production are recommended.
