A study of triple-coil receiver in LCC-S compensation network applied to AUVs

This paper introduces a resonant-based cylindrical autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) wireless power transmission (WPT) system designed to maintain consistent efficiency regardless of the rotational offset angle. A compact, high-performance magnetic coupling for AUVs, with custom curvature, was developed using ANSYS MAXWELL. Over a full 0–360° rotational offset, the self-inductance remains stable, the coupling coefficient exceeds 0.433, and its fluctuation is restricted to within 2.2%. An LCC-S compensation network was optimized based on the device's stable self-inductance and mutual inductance variation to achieve zero-voltage soft-switching (ZVS). A 130W prototype was tested in an atmospheric environment, exhibiting stable high-power resonant transmission across all rotational offsets. The transmission efficiency was approximately 91%, while the DC-DC efficiency surpassed 82%, with fluctuations within 3.1%, confirming the system's reliability and performance.
